Reconstructions

The Reconstructions started as an attempt to capture landscapes through scanning the environment with up to 100 individual pictures. The process derived from the notion of our experience being composed of individual components that construct the particle system of our reality. I am attracted to broken down environments, and industrial landscapes due to the high content of abstracted architecture and visceral geometry. The natural process and evolution of those environments culminate in the studio where those images can interact in a similarly spontaneous and random composition.
The original photos are composed of several individual digital pictures. They are then stitched together digitally to create one large seamless image attempting to capture the environment as accurately as possible. Once the digital image is printed out, spontaneous selections are made in regards to what creates the identity of that environment. The byproduct of that environment becomes a fragment of memory cut out as an object in space. A photo might be printed more than one time, but the cut out is never the same, creating a singular and unique splinter construction.
